Cruising Dogbark

Spoiler Alert:  We actually love sailing more than boat work.  I know that so far this blog has been a litany of haul-outs and paint jobs, power washing and chop saw work–yes, Talia did an instructional chop saw video.  Coming soon to a blog near you…

But lately, we have been sailing a bit more.  As a way to dress up the boat work, you might say. We did a fun spring break trip with grand parents in tow, started with 4 days of boat work of PT followed by a sail to Kingston and Seattle.  (Where he had a long/productive/expensive trip to Fisheries, lots of work on H2O systems) We also demoed some new sails from Ballard Sails, and had a great time at Bell Harbor in the bright lights of the big city.

And as I write this, Dogbark is sitting calmly on our mooring buoy after a full day of sail testing with the guys from Ballard Sails.  New main-Awesome!  Genoa-Just what the doctor ordered.  And best of all, a working jib/staysail that pulls.  The thing is a beast.  Pulled us home from Elliott Bay on a beam reach to a run, at up to 10.6 knots.  (Did I mention, no mainsail, just the staysail?)

Yep, sailing beats the daylights out of boatwork.  The crew is unanimous on that one!
