You may be thinking, “Wait a second, Talia is only twelve… it’s too early for her to retire!” Well, that is a very valid point. The thing is, Mom, Savai, and I are all back home in Washington after arriving in Sitka and flying back home! I consider it to be a temporary retirement from all the work we had to do aboard Dogbark.
Anyway, we made it to Sitka, Alaska, and we stayed there for a while doing all the tourist activities that the small town has to offer. We enjoyed many adventures involving grizzly bears, raptors, whales, totem poles, and fishing boats with Nini and Grampa (who sailed aboard Dogbark with us) and Granny and Boppa (who flew up to meet us). Dogbark stayed in a large marina on the outskirts of downtown Sitka until she was ready to go again. We had to haul her out of the water and fix her transmission while we were there.
Then we hopped on a plane and flew back to Seattle. I am writing this lounging on one of the many couches in the living room in my grandparent’s house in Port Townsend. What a wonderful retirement!!! I even got to go back to Bainbridge and hang out with my friends Ruby and Soren. We also went camping at a park on Bainbridge and said goodbye to neighborhood friends. One of my favorite parts was playing with my baby cousins Raven and Peri! It was so fun! Here are some photos from our adventures in Sitka, Port Townsend, and Bainbridge Island.
Wow, what a great adventure so far!!! To bad you will have to come out of retirement to continue on. It was wonderful to see you guys and I was very happy to see you were all well and in good spirits. I am staying tuned and waiting to see where the sea takes you next, safe travels!!!
Savai here. Great seeing you too, Mr. Walker! I have missed seeing you every day on the bus.
