Well it’s not just Dogbark sailing the Inside Passage. We also have another boat with us, Hula Girl. Hula girl is a Sea Ranger 40′. She is owned by Shelli, a retired epidemiologist who offered to be our chase boat. John and Becca, our crew, are staying with her there for the Inside Passage, and will move onto Dogbark for the Northwest passage. We’ve been adventuring for a few days when someone had the idea for me and Talia to ride on Hula Girl for a day. So we did, and this is what we did.
I came over around 9:30. I helped with engine checks and found two bolts were missing. Suddenly John felt a drip of water on his heel. So he tightened the connector, and unfortunately, broke the nut. Currently there is emergency tape over the hose… Well I thought that’s enough with engines so I came up from the engine room, and petted their cat Dinky. Finally we were on our way. We had a little bit of time lounging around then we exchanged riddles. I learned a couple that I really liked.
question: There’s this man named David who works on the 14th floor of his office. He looks up to everyone in his office. On normal days he takes the stairs but on rainy days he takes the elevator. Why?
Answer: He’s short. So he has to use his umbrella to push the buttons in the elevator.
Question: you’re stuck in a box made of concrete, it has no openings. You have a bat and three balls. What to do?
Answer: Throw the ball against the wall, try not to hit it with the bat, and do that twice again and… Three strikes you’re out!
Then it was time for photography lessons from John (he’s a pro). I learned how to take and edit really cool photos! Here are some of the photos I took.
I really like your photos Savai, you’ve learned a lot. My favorite is the tree because it shows the view of a short person. I have a riddle for you;
What state do you find a sprite (the drink) in?
Minni-soda
Hey Savai here,
Ha, ha ha (slow clap)
I dont think I ever told you I was into photogerphy, but I do like that photo of the tree. One of the reasons I like photography so much is everyone interprets it differently.
These are breathtaking photos, Janna! You lured us in with Dinky, and they just got more magnificent!! What a way to transport us all….deepest thanks. Love, Crystal
Thanks, Crystal! To be clear, all these photos were taken by Savai except the last which is by Talia. Pretty cool to have photography class taught by a pro while cruising! See his photos on Instagram @john_t._guillote or http://www.fromjohnscamera.com
That’s so cool Savai! The pictures are amazing!
That is really cool savai! I love the picture of the trees and the cat! Have fun!
I like your writing Talia, it’s very descriptive and really gives us a feel for what your adventure is like. Save, I love your photographs. You really have an eye for it. My favorite is the picture of the boat with the boat name showing on both sides. It looks very tranquil. Can’t wait to see you all for Cousins Camp.
