Boatwork in the Anacortes Yard

Dogbark had been sitting for several years and needed some love. She had grown a cozy green sweater of mildew on her decks. Exhibit A: Before power-washing. Exhibit B: After power-washing.

So Graeme power-washed the decks. I power-washed the decks. And we hauled stuff, lots of stuff–including dozens of jerry jugs–out of the Afterclink (Graeme’s dad’s term).

We hauled up the main and tested the lazy jacks . . . after the girls stopped dancing on the boom.

And the girls painted the keel and the rudder white (so it’s easier to see if you have something hung up) but I forgot to take photos of their handiwork. It was fun! Sort of.

Afterward we enjoyed a nice hike at Cap Sante Park at sunset. Milkshake, our loaner dog, was happy to stretch his legs. (Milkshake technically belongs to Graeme’s brother and sister-in-law; we’re dog sitting while they’re abroad for the winter, but really we wish he were our dog–except that dogs have a hard time cruising. So actually it works out great for everyone.) Anyway, in addition to hiking, admiring the view of Anacortes, and some party tricks . . .

. . . we went bowling.

All in a day’s work. When you have kids.
