Week 1 in Photos

This gives you a visual sense of our first week cruising. (I tried to post it before we jumped to Haida Gwaii, but internet is fluky on a boat.) For a beautiful description in words, check out Becca’s blog post at halcyonwandering.com. She even includes a “family tree” of all the buddy boats and buddies!

Talia’s classmates made her a poster

Our new dinghy planes with lots of people
Our friend Bob of SV Twixt, who we met on our first Pacific cruise back in 2003, took us provisioning and hiking in Silva Bay
Deb and Bob played music at an evening BBQ in Silva Bay where they live
Bob’s son Chris (right) was 18 when we met him aboard Twixt; he brought family–his partner Crystal plays a mean ukelele–friends, and bbq ribs to our hootenanny
Several generations of singers in Silva Bay, BC
Kids found seats just about anywhere, on the boom, on the dodger, on the bongos…
Bouzoukis, ukuleles, song books, dogs, kids, jerry jugs
Deb plays a 5-string uke and Bob plays a bouzouki (sp?)
Vickie played the shakey-shakey, Jon played the harmonica, and John played the Nikon
Janna and Becca and bongos
Vickie with Dogbark anchored stern-to in Deep Bay, Jedediah Island
We lucked out on weather

  2. Wow, what a fantastic way to capture your first week of cruising! The photos really bring the experience to life. It must be incredible to explore such beautiful places, even with the occasional spotty internet! Loved the mention of Becca’s blog and the “family tree” of boats—so fun and unique. Looking forward to seeing more of your journey!
